My Training

I train 6 days a week, all year round.  I have always been a member of a gym and danced to keep in shape but only started training with weights in August 2009.  When I first started competing, training consisted mainly of all over body resistance workouts four times per week.  This schedule allowed me to do very little cardio as all over body workouts tend to burn a lot of body fat.  I then moved on to split body part routines, I like to keep changing my training and challenging myself.

In June 2011, I joined Team Bombshell and with the help of my coach Shannon Dey, I am now working on improving my physique, sculpting the body and addressing any weaknesses.

A  typical training split for me would be:

Day 1:  Lower Body - Glute focus

Day 2: Upper Body

Day 3: Lower Body - Hamstring focus

Day 4: Upper Body

Day 5: Lower Body - Quad focus

60 mins cardio daily 6 days a week

My favourite exercises are Good Mornings and one leg presses. I like training legs, my lower body develops faster than my upper body.

In addition to weight training, I also do daily cardio. I dont tend to carry alot of bodyfat naturally but I have found that cardio allows me to increase my calories and gives me a fuller more athletic look and it is great for shaping the legs. I like to mix it up and do different things such as using the high stepper and gradients on the treadmill.

I like to stay in good shape all year round, whether preparing for a contest or not. I typically eat five to six small meals a day, no more than 3 hours apart, eating a diet that is generally moderate to high in lean proteins, low in starchy carbs and sugars with enough 'good fats' to keep the skin looking healthy. Not to forget - plenty of vegetables!

My favourite meal of the day is breakfast which is usually oats and ground flaxseed or meal 3 which is usualy brown rice, spicy turkey and mixed vegetables.  I have a cheat meal once or twice a week, favourite cheat foods being anything sweet (such as chocolate or cheesecake!).
