As a trainer is important to know what works, therefore I test all my training systems myself. I followed a weight training plan and high protein / low complex carb diet and lost 6% bodyfat in 6 months. I wanted to lose that last little bit of stubborn bodyfat around the stomach area, which is often harder to lose when you have a reasonably low bodyfat to begin with. My weight decreased by only 0.5kg but my lean muscle mass increased and I lost two inches from my waist. The aim was to replace fat with muscle and maintain my starting weight. Some people use extreme diets to lose weight or decrease bodyfat in a faster period of time but often lose muscle in the process. If you prefer the toned, healthy look then weight training is the way forward. I used an upper/lower body superset system with minimal cardiovascular exercise.
Obviously, what works for me may not work for you and I would not prescribe exactly the same workout for everyone therefore I have worked with a variety of different systems and had excellent results with my clients who are serious about getting into shape and stick to their diet plans...
